I was born in 1979 on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten, Dutch
Quarter. As a young boy, inspired by my musically rich neighborhood and religious upbringing, I
joined the choir and later started writing my own Dancehall and Reggae
lyrics at the age of 16. I’ve always wanted to have a voice in the
sociopolit ical struggles of my generation .
Soon after, I left St. Maarten to study abroad in Miami, where I joined the Hip Hop group – ‘Mercenari es,’ and had my first encounter with a recording studio. Upon my return to the island, I participat ed in a local radio talent show broadcast, but decided to leave for the Netherlands at the age of 24 to vigorously pursue a career in music.
I was quickly introduced to a producer in Leeuwarden , and joined the Rap/ Hip Hop group – ‘Borderline.’ When the group disbanded, I branched out as a solo artist and went to produce two studio singles – ‘Music’ and ‘Good King,’ in Rotterdam, as well as my first mixtape – ‘Dancehall inna Europe.’ I’ve wanted to make music in Rotterdam and return to my Dancehall and Reggae roots ever since.
This year, I completed my second mixtape – ‘Sierious ‘Bout It,’ in collaborat ion with multiplati num producer Mihai, and released my new single ‘Hardwork’
on Dutch radio stations Brasa and FunX. I also came in contact with
Anthony Records, a Jamaican producer whose Riddim (Zagga I Wish) is
featured on my new single ‘Destinati on,’ as I try to keep up with Jamaica and what goes on with the culture there.
