Nurtured by ital food, natural juices, Rastafari, regular stints at the studio and good advice Sista Quanna; female Roots / Reggae and Dancehall artiste grew and improved quickly.
Her ability to sing and DJ along with her fearless, confident exuberant delivery...and her wailing, lamenting, revival sounding, vocal phrases gained her a reputation as a capable and unique artiste. Sadly, females who aspire to excel in the genres of Jamaican music face obstacles and unfair battles from the male chauvinistic culture which is prominent in Jamaica.
This situation, along with her passion and drive to sing and perform to the masses inspired her to move to Kingston and build her own studio in the house she lived in. This move was a complete success. The Studio was called Addis Abeba and her musical quest took on a more professional persona. Sista Quanna along with Jahra her mentor and default Manager began to draw positive attention, support and constructive advice from established artistes and Producers.
Artistes such as: Turbulence, Perfect Giddimani, Half Pint, Charlie Blacks, Jah Mason and Producers such as Chuck Back, Patrick Roach and Milo Brown Seaton (UK based Producer & son of Reggae Legend BB Seaton); close friend Adena Myrie (vocalist & sister of Mark "Buju Banton" Myrie) and radio personality, Elise Kelly.
Sista Quanna is the 5th born of 6 children. She is also a Mother of one boy child, Kazane. Sista Quanna is a Reggae/Roots and "culture Dancehall" Female Artiste; reminiscent of Buju Banton, Sizzla Kalonji and Queen Ifrica whom she's often compared to because of her fiery vocal delivery. She sings, she chants, she dj's; she goes soft and gentle and then she's blazing hot and tumultuous. She's a performer! She loves the stage and the crowd loves her. She sings of struggles and visions and sufferings and peace and paradise...and she does it all in the quaint vocal expressions and phrasings, the sweet wailing sounds of the revival church; yet not too much...measured and tempered to refinement.
Sista Quanna is now well on her way to claiming her spot in a "difficult" genre. She's one to watch not only because of her upright, physical beauty but simply because she always takes the lead. Sista Quanna is a winner. She knows the struggles of female artistes in music but even more so in Reggae/Dancehall. Sista Quanna is not afraid of any kind of struggles.
